Hi, new to this site and the GIMP. I have been following some tutorials on other sites and am becoming dispondent that even though I follow to the letter my results never look the same I am trying to find a tutorial or guide which starts with the absolute basics and works up but as yet no joy! Any pointers out there? Thnx

yeah most tuts expect you to kno where thing are and that you have used them b4. but really, i recomend just messing around and using the render and skripts. there are some pretty basic tuts here - Clicky - hope you get the hang of it man and Welcome to the Guild. post some of your works once in a while so we can give you some C&C to help you. you can try imageshack.us or photobucket.com to upload your works.

Thanks, I have noticed that many tuts refer to locations of tools/filters etc in different places but have quickly got used to looking for them elswhere and am ok with this. I created a starry night scene last night with a supernova and mountain landscape from a tut and was well pleased with the results I am a programmer by trade and have in the past dabbled with games and graphics programming. After finding the game Professor FizzWizzle at grubbygames.com my interest has been restarted purely as a hobby and exercise to see if I can acheive it. Look at the game and see the kind of thing I would like to do. Also THANKS for replying I was getting down with trying to find life out there in GIMP land as all the forums I found to date seem to be deserted! I don't know how to get my images uploaded to here tho? Can anyone give a small tut on how to do it so I can show you my night scene? Thnx

ok, go here imageshack.us and register. then go to the main page again. click browse, find the folder you put the pic in and open the image. then hit host. when it is done uploading you will see like 4 new urls/code. i always use the url on the bottom for the fact that it is a direct link. hope thats good
